...up on blocks...at least for a little while.

Well, I finished the 5k. Yay! Last week, I ran 3 miles so I knew I could do it. But last week, I didn't have the knee discomfort that I do now. I've never had knee problems, even though I was a catcher, wrestler, and running back in high school. I want to run a few more races...trying to get used to running long distances, I'm used to sprinting. I've got to take it easy and probably go back to walking for a bit.

I'm still alive. It's been a long hot summer and I got out and did as much as I could. Dang, I had to cut two more holes in my belt! Dropped 20 lbs since the end of June and have been the walking golf courses. I play much better too, haven't been above 100 but one time (yesterday). Getting a stroller for my clubs makes a lot of difference. I really don't miss the cart.

I hope you guys all had a good summer. I'll be posting more since it's getting cooler and football season is near! Go STEELERS!

P.S. I don't usually have the volume up when I post of visit my blog and I apologize for the music...I need to try to remember my password to that application site.

Anyway, well, I got rid of the monkey so everything is back to normal.

I played 18 holes on Sunday and walked the whole way. I've done this several times since I last blogged. The first time sucked ass way bad, I fell asleep while soaking my doggies. The last couple of times I really enjoyed it but I my golf game suffered alot because I was carrying my bag and was burnt during the back nine. So,this is what I did....I got a push-cart by Clicgear and it made a world of difference. I scored two birdies and a couple of pars and posted my best score ever.

95

I beat my average by about 15 strokes. I never thought I'd break a hundred this summer. I'm way happy.

Rock on my good people! Curley signing off.

drafty

I went golfing yesterday. Weatherman said that it was going to be pleasant and calm....when I got to the Twin Warriors Golf Club, it was chilly and was beyond breezy. I played anyway. I had a free pass so I wouldn't have played there because the green fees are way beyond the capacity of my wallet. I normally play at public courses where prices are a bit more affordable. TW is a resort golf course but is open to the public. The difference between a public course and a resort course is that at a resort course, the people come out and carry your bags for you, provide tees, markers, bottles of water, bag of warm-up balls, and you can play at your convenience and with whomever you want (they'll fit you in), tidy green course, beer is cheaper too, attendents clean your clubs and give you a ride your vehicle. At public courses, you have to haul all your shit with you to and from the parking lot, pack your own bag on the cart, pay for warm-up balls, and bribe the starter for a more desirable tee off time for twilight, stick you a arrogant or stinky play partner, pay inflated beer prices or smuggle in your own and try not to get caught.

Dang, I need to get rich soon. I do like resort courses.

This morning, I was getting ready for work. Went looking for my wallet and found it in the cargo shorts I wore yesterday for golf. I also found a big long rip from waste down to the bottom of left leg cuff. Could I have........?

I'm glad I didn't go into the casino.

I remember as a kid, I'd go to town in Farmington and there was two place my grandparents would take us to eat. Furr's or the "west Y" Blake's Lotaburger. They taste the same as the first time.

I like my Lota Combo with no pizzaz. 1 beef patty, lettuce, tomatoes, and onion with mustard. Skin on fries and catsup. Iced-tea.

How do you like your Lota Combo?

I figured nobody would comment on the last post....

I figured that you felt like you needed to respond, but you didn't want to, so you didn't...

:)

Be good my people.

Ever been needed? Ever been wanted? It's a question that has come up in my mind lately. I don't to be in a place where I'm not wanted nor do I want to be in a place that I'm needed.

I don't want to go to sleep because I feel that I could do so much more in the day if I didn't need to sleep. I don't want to get out of bed in the morning but I need to go to work.

I love golf because I want to play. If I needed to play golf, I'd probably hate it.

I want my friends to come over for the Superbowl. I wouldn't want to feel like I need them there.

My body needs oxygen, without it, my body dies.

I want mustard on my hotdog. I want onions on it sometimes. I don't need hotdogs.

I want you to want me in your life. I don't want you to feel like you need me.

Want and need. Two different definitions that are sometimes mistaken to be the same thing.

We had a good weekend. We went to the 6th Annual Pork 'N Brew Championships. I'm not sure why they call it the Pork 'N Brew because there was plenty of pork but no sign of Brew, well, except for the beer garden which served plain ol' Bud and such...no real fun in that. Well, anyway, we made our rounds taking the bbq samples as went along. Before we knew it we were full. Geez, we still had a bunch of bbq bucks to burn so we walked and walked and people watched. We went and sat for a beer and checked out the pig races before we went back in for the final round of barbeque. We tried all that we could but we were too dang full to go any further. We had a couple of bbq bucks left so luckily we found a stand with natives in there making fried bread with pulled pork. What a combo! After that, we went home and too a post bbq nap. Don'cha hate it when you get the bbq burps later? lol

Sunday was cool too and made me a little sad. Well, it was movie day. We packed up the kids and jumped into the truck. It still had the aroma of burned fire wood and dust. Just so happens, that the radio was dialed in to KTNN from Window Rock. Having all these senses filled made pull up some memories of my Nali's. My Nali's home always smelled of burned firewood and was kinda dusty. Tracked in mud always turned to dust. The radio tuned to the Navajo stations really made me remember both of them... as my Nali' Aszdaan would be weaving while listening to the Navajo Church ladies sing slightly off key and nasally on KNDN. I remember on my visits to her that she would cook up what ever she had with coffee and fresh tortillas... Man, I miss those tortillas. Even if it was Coronado Bologna thick sliced and pan fried with a green chile (or cayenne pepper)(commodity cheese would make it heavenly) on a fresh tortilla it was the best meal ever.

I think the only English word that my Nali' Hosteen knew was "shit". He was a character... and a good rancher. We used to go feed the cows during the winter time and my truck reminded me of those drives down to Two Grey Hills where we'd go to get a piece of peanut patty, y'know that big pink patty with peanuts in it, a six pack of Shasta Cola, and a piece of mutton for when we get back to the house. The drive down in the valley was always nice, we'd turn off and take a bumpy dirt road to where the cows hung out. My Nali' would honk the horn and then we'd bust up the bales of hay and then watched the cows come from miles around. Our brand was a backward C and pink ear tag. I'd try to chase off the others but a few managed to get a little.

I miss my Nali's.

What a good weekend. I spent it with my family.

Happy Randy Castillo Day.... well, a couple of days ago.

That's living.

Jerome wishes he was just watching sheep in the meadow....sipping warm Shasta cola and munching on Vienna sausages and crackers. That's living.

Meanwhile...back at my blog...

Well this February has been good I think I'm off to a good start for the year. First of all, the champs of champs are champions once again. Way to go Pittsburgh Steelers. Anyway, these couple of weeks since the Superbowl have been quite busy. I logged on close to 90 hours for the last two weeks. We had to work on a tight deadline. We almost got it done and again this morning I got handed a couple of design changes. More work is better than no work.

I took off on Friday and spent it with the Boogah. We had a Daddy and daughter day but later on we collected the Punkin and went to the McDonalds and then the park. I was beat. On Saturday, we went to the movies to watch "Bolt". What a good show. Man, I haven't been to the movies but three times since highschool. The first time was Jurassic Park III while my wife was pregnant with the Boogah. Geez, she was kicking hard during the exciting scenes. Maybe that's why she likes the Jurassic Park series so much. The movies. I remember going to the Window Rock Cinema every Friday and Saturday when I was a kid and at times when we can find a few bucks between us, I'd walk my little brother and sister to the movies on Sunday afternoon. Dang, the good old days when walking 3 miles without worrying about the undersirable weirdos that lurk around Window Rock now.

Well, on Sunday, we just straightened up the house and watched the Daytona 500. Geez, no football so what else is there? I don't even like basketball. Oh well, it was loud and my surround sound was rockin. I cooked an awesome seafood pasta dish....Lobster, shrimp, scallops, and mussels on fetuccini pasta with a tomato wine sauce. mmmmmm wish you were here...lol

rock on my good people!

Brian Urlacher came to our office this morning. No prior notice. 10 min meeting with our boss. Must be low key, I didn't even have an opportunity to take his picture. Couldn't tell you anything other than he is one of our clients.

This is the only evidence that he was here. One of my co-workers got him to sign her jersey. Geez, if I had known.
