Goodbye 2008

Dispite all the crap that is going on in the economic world and my slight depression...I feel that I'm actually better off than I was a year ago. New job, two new holes in my belt, improved golf game..... I welcome this upcoming year. A clean slate, shaking the Etcha-Sketch, reloading the operating system, flipping the pillow over to the cooler side....I've got to make some changes and I have to do things a little bit better. I hope you all are going to better your selves too. Rock on my good people.

babblebabblebabblebabble.....nice flowers and sharp teeth.

I recently went to the doctor a couple of months ago for a physical exam because I hadn't had one in a while. I've always thought that I was in ok shape except for the last couple of years being at my new career and not being as physically mobile as I used to. In doing so, I knew I was a bit over weight. Dang, I payed a copay to have the doc to tell me what I already knew. Well, that's besides the actual point. I was a new patient so I had to fill out the entry questionaire and sign all the necessary papers. You know....."do you smoke?", "do you have heart diseases in your family history?", and "are you depressed?"....etc. I answered all of them as I felt they were true for my 37 year 100,000 mile check up. I said "yes" to depressed. Then I thought about it......yeah, I feel sad sometimes. Especially about stuff that happens back at home on the rez like my still recovering brother, long-lost daughter, high fuel prices, my absence of being close to home, and not knowing about city life. I guess to a physician this has an entirely different meaning. I don't think I'm that fucked up! Geez, I'm not still here because I hate the taste of gun metal. I like my life. Despite having a mortage, longer belt size, more grey hairs, and longing to wet a line at Morgan Lake, I'm having a good time and hopefully live long enough to see my great great grand kids.

Well, I said I was depressed a bit one time at an appointment. She said she would prescribe me a drug that will calm me down and be a little more level headed when I felt down and at the end of my rope. Ok, I said. Shouldn't have said that but I did. Well this drug is one that Ozzy's on. Maybe it'll make me a rock star! Hoping to feel better, nothing changed....so up went the dose after a month of treatment........................................................................................ I was a a complete mess. I felt like Ozzy. Jittery, spaced out, feeling disconnected, spazzy, feeling like I needed to be somewhere, thinking, "did I leave the clothes iron on?", sleepy, and sometimes pissy............................................................................................. and this shit is prescribed for depressed people?

I didn't realize that I had to dose down to come off of this shit too. So, I'm off of it now. Now I know I didn't need it because I feel just fine, except for one thing. When I dream, it's like a whole movie playing in my head like I was the playing the main role. Some are good, some aren't. Most feel too real. I dream like I TIVO'd it because when I become awake sometimes....it resumes where I left off when I go back to sleep. Freaky to me, really. I think that my prescription dislodged something in my brain.

Or am I really going nuts?

Oh yeah, GO STEELERS!!! GO SCOUTS!!!

In case you were wondering, I'm still here. Alive and well I guess. Just had to get my head together and my poop in a group.

On Oct 23, METALLICA rolled through town. What a show. Not one of their best shows but considering the venue, Tingley Coliseum, it was better than I expected them.

Just as my buddy Jonny said, they played through all their songs and played well. It was refreshing to hear the new stuff. I think of all albums, Death Magnetic is a close 3rd in my ranking of Metallica. First is still being Master of Puppets and then ....And Justice for All. Of the new stuff, I'm glad that they played all of my favorites.

My wife went with me and this is her second Metallica show. I think she's becoming a fan. Her kids thought it was cool that Mrs. Curley went to see Metallica.

Chalk up another year.

Tomorrow is my birthday. I will be out all day getting sun in the New Mexico Rio Grande valley chasing a little white ball and try to knock it into a little hole. Wish me luck.

I added two holes in my belt! Yay!!! Rock on my good people!

Thursday, September 18, 2008

Oh My God........football is back. Black and Gold baby. They look good so far even with Roethlisberger ailing separated shoulder. The O-line looks awesome and Willie is free. This weekend is Philly. Geez, I wish that Dallas game was tie. I hate that gang of criminals.

Last weekend, I played 18 at Santa Ana Tamaya and Cheena links and I seemed to have sprained a ligment in my left elbow. I've rested a couple of days and haven't gone to the driving range. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to swing at a couple of balls because this weekend my brother may come up from White Sands. I really want to take advantage of this mild weather we've been having here.

My drives were killer. My shortgame still sucks.

Friday, September 05, 2008

Anyway.....this is what's going on.....

I haven't been on lately because I reformatted my computer and reinstalled all the software because my machine was systematically getting slower and unstable. When I got it all done, I couldn't find the stupid code to get it back on the wireless network. What a pain.

I played Isleta golf course with my good neighbor last Saturday. I scored 100+ again but we had a good time. I struck the ball real good this time but my short game sucked ass. Well, like fishing, a bad day of golf is still way better than a good day at work.

The rest of the weekend was awesome too. I took the girls out to the Santo Domingo Pueblo Indian Market to get some soul back in our lives. We checked out the sites and goods but we really went for some good food. I got a roasted mutton sandwich which surprisingly came with a wedge of avocado, slice of watermelon, green onion, and a jalapeno, all on a puffy fried bread. mmmmmmmmmmmm mmmm. Karen got a Navajo Taco and the girls shared a fried bread. It was good to mingle with the natives a bit.

Metallica is coming back to town!!! Woo hoo!!! Lastnight I listened to the whole album online. Man, I think it sounds good. I got my tickets already and I have to work on my moshing skills. Rock on my good people.

Deck saga........part BLEH...

Ok, so I got back on task with my deck. I finished the deck part of the deck but it's still essentially just a big wooden table aside of my pool. Next thing to do is to build the steps to lead up to the heavens of deckus maximus. I went down to the local Home Depot and got some 2"x12" to build stringers and some red wood 2"x6" for the steps. All was good until I started cutting the pressure treated lumber...dammit... my circular saw started to bind and wander thus f'ing up my 18 dollar stringer. Geez, I then dug out my old 10 inch circular saw.....same damned thing. Then I realized that the wood was saturated with the pressure treatment chemicals that when I started to cut the wood it would start to swell and clinch down on my blades. So, I had my old trusty hand saw... did the trick but my arms, back, and chest are hurting like a mofo today. I guess I had to start up my work out routine sometime. haha.

As for my doc appointment, I guess for my size I'm actually pretty healthy. BP is good, dang supermarket bp machines started to freak me out cuz I was getting outragous bp readings. I guess my guns that I developed last summer were too big for the machines. Haha. Blood sugar is normal. Cholesterol is elevated. Too many dead cows eaten this summer. The doc told me to eat vegetables and eat fruits..... man, that seems to be all I do eat. I loves me a good salad and steamed veggies. I don't even salt things or shlather them in sauces and goop. Docs never believe you though. All in all, it just seems that I should get off my ass more often. More juice and fewer brewskis. Bleh. Well, the girls are back in school, I can get back into a regular routine soon. We'll see.

Lopez Lomong

Lopez Lomong is running right now in one of the heats. Do you know where he went to college?
Hmmmm...................

NORTHERN ARIZONA UNIVERSITY

Go JACKS!!!

the saga of my deck......

Well, I got the deck part of the deck completed. I still have to attach a set of steps and the hand rails. One thing that I've found that I can peak in to other folks' yards and stuff easily. Reminds me of that King of Queens episode. What I think I'll be doing is tacking some outdoor shade material around the railing to add some privacy for my neighbors and also cut the wind. Sometimes it will be hot as hell but the wind keeps us inside so this wind break will hopefully add some more swimming days. I'll post some pics soon.

mark it on your calendar....

METALLICA at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, NM, October 23, 2008. I don't know about you but this venue takes me back to the Ozzy Osbourne/ Metallica Ultimate Sin Concert Tour of May 16, 1986. It rocked then and it should rock again now. I remember getting the beer cup from Cliff Burton. Styrofoam as it was, it went up on my shelf of fame in my bedroom. Then came the day my mom cleaned my room. Moms...they'll never understand.

Somebody asked me, "why did you buy clubs that were so expensive?" Then followed by, "you aren't even that good."

My response was.... because I can.

I know I'm not that good at golf. Besides, having good equipment is important. You would never want to buy shitty tools to build a house. You'll always question the tools and not your skills. If you have good tools and the house don't have have one square angle on it, you're just a shitty golfer.

Isleta golf

0724082154a.jpg
This past Saturday I played 18 holes at Isleta GC with my brother. Damn it was hot. I shot a 100+, won't discuss it, but it was a awesome course. I've never played there before and I think I'll be more of a regular because it is such a good facility. For 55 bucks it is a good deal. I'll probably try to get out there and try it again. Hopefully it'll be a little cooler and the beer cart girl is on task.

My new clubs did well. I got a new Callaway '06 460X 9deg Driver, 3W and 5W X fairway woods, 2H X Hybrid ( I might dump my 3i for good),and an Odyssey 2 ball putter. I should have taken my old putter before taking my new one because I just couldn't get good control of it. I just have to work on my strokes and stop thinking about golf and just play.

Dooda necessary evils...........

.....at the new Fire Rock Casino. Restricted booze and no smoking in a casino. Makes no sense. Really, who is the target demographic for this money making facility? Traditional Navajos, God-fearin folks, goody-two-shoes, average Joe, Boy Scouts? My money is on the endless army of blue-hairs sippin gin & tonics with the Marlboro calluses and oxygen tank. Geez, why get into this business if we're only going to filter out all the gambling mass? We're better off building a Chuck E. Cheese!

Smoking ban prompts 40% cut in casino jobs-The Navajo Times

The casino commitee better go check out Sandia or Santa Ana Casinos where their people make some serious coin.

"As My Deck Turns....."

0720081503b.jpg

Yep, I got the deck portion done. It took us a good hot friggin day to get it up. I chased my little girls out that day to pick up trash and scrap before they could play. Man, what a day. We really cleaned up our back yard.

0720081143a.jpg
0720081503c.jpg
As you can see, by the end of the day, the monsoon clouds rolled in. We got a few nourishing drops but it went away as quickly as it came.

Monday, July 14, 2008

In case you're wondering........

I HAVEN'T DONE SHIT ON MY DECK! Part of it is laziness and part of it was that when it came time to work it was so friggin hot I'd rather jump in the pool than dork around it. Then came the monsoons.........during the week but not on the weekends so, I couldn't take a day off! Geez, I look tooo healthy today to take a sick day tomorrow. Dammit. Plus some other things have come up that have taken up my weekend hours...like the tri-tip exploration that has been happening in my backyard and the coucheth thateth hath calleth thy nameth. When the lord talketh....I listen. If lovin' the lord is wrong, I don't want to be right!!
My Meat
What ever you do to a tri-tip, just cook it to 140 deg and it will slather your tastebuds with naughty beef love.

My deck will happen. I need to cannibalize another part of my yard for materials. Plus, lately, it's been real cool out so it'll be nice out to cut wood and drive screws. Stay tuned.

4th of July peeve.....

While I was looking at condiments in the condiments aisle of the local Wal-Mart to put on my hotdog I hear this...."grab a jar of MANnaise"....dammit, there's a friggin "Y" in mayonnaise! Say, MAYOnnaise. After me, mayo-nnaise. Geez, speak right you moron. And you dumbasses that say, "aks" when you are ASKing a question, you are in the moron group too. If you ask me, "fer reeell", yep, you are a cranially simple.

I see red. d3cksedotua better get their shit together before I go postal. Bleh. Oh well, I'm cool. Just a glitch in my personal matrix. Overall, I'm glad I'm a live and being able to do the evil things I do. haha.

Well, my deck is coming along ok. Since it's going to be high up, 50", I have to brace the posts under it so it won't be wobbly while we're on it. So, what that means is more material to purchase. It's going to be awesome when I get it all finished. We also got a new set of steps where it attaches to the deck so it'll be easier to get in and out of the pool. It's also a nice place to sit if you just want to gradually submerge. Wow, this summer is going by quickly. I want to get as much swimming with the girls as we can but the monsoons will be coming soon. I love the rain but when I want to take a dip it kinda dampens the whole event. Pun intended.

Fourth of July is Friday... geez, it came early. I'm going to try to cook something new this weekend. A tri-tip cut of beef. From what I've heard from my brother and research that it's a tasty piece of meat. Dang, I wish my back yard was finished, I wanted to invite a few folks over for a bbq and suds.

0624081825a.jpg

Adjusted the deck so it is level on all four sides. It looks way better now. I'm sure when I replace the boards that I took off they won't line up.

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Well, I got my deck moved but not reassembled. It should take me a couple of days of work. Here a few pics of what was accomplished.

0623081138a.jpg
Started dismantling the 8X8 portion of the deck by the back slider door.
0623081153a.jpg
The Boogah inspecting the operation and not liking what she sees. We don't need no stinking permits!!
0623081249a.jpg
Dismantled the other 8X8 portion of the deck. Lizards scrambling everywhere!

Putting up first 8X8.

Checking for level....damned thing still leans. It never fails for me. I measure twice and cut once but it never comes out right. Haha.

Curley's Backyard Version 5.3

I'd like to add a wooden fence around it for added protection and also the blue color is way gaudy. On the far end we are going to add a solar heater and make it useful earlier and later.

Yeah, my backyard is starting to take shape. We still have a lot to do like add a patio where the deck used to be and plant some trees. We're at odds about what to cover the rest of the yard. Karen wants grass and I wanted a synthetic putting green. I'm bigger than her, I can win this. Haha.

I was supposed to play in a golf tournament this weekend in Angel Fire but that idea fizzled when we had to buy a new motor for down stairs swamp coolers. Karen is relieved that I'm not playing this weekend and she thinks she's putting me to work...haha. Geez, I can't wait until this weekend... I actually get to break out my power tools and make noise. Yaay.

Glory Days Moment......I remember as a kid during the summer we would be in some summer recreation program at Window Rock Elementary School and we would take trips to the pool in Navajo, NM. I used to be able to swim under water from end to end. Those were some fun times.

I went and visited my dad this past weekend. We had a good time and it was good to be back on the ranch. My dad asked me when was the last time I was there and I had no idea. It was just too long.

Here are a couple of pictures I took of the landscape around my home. Times have indeed changed but the landscape will be the same long after I'm gone. I remember looking at these features with my young eyes and it still looks the same now as it did then.

It took a lot of time and questions to be answered but he is here and I couldn't ask for anything more. Life is too short for me to be angry and especially for him to be reminded of his absence. He's here now. He loves his grandkids and he tries his best to spoil them as best as he can.

He's my dad.

I'm going home to visit my dad and grill up some t-bones for him. Funny thing, a couple of years ago he came to our home for Father's Day and I plated him up with a chubby t-bone and he told me he had never had that kind of steak before. All those years of ranching and all he's had was round steak. Haha. I got him a new radio, a new flashlight, gloves, deck of cards, and and a roll of Skoal. Of course we loaded up his pantry with some tasty vittles and several cases of sodas. We'll probably do the same this weekend with a little extra...he's easily pleased. The girls are going to get a kick out of visiting him and the farm.

Have a Happy Father's Day my good people! Be safe.

P.S. Do something special for the old man..... a tie and the big piece of chicken just don't cut it. Maybe a new NFL Licensed Pittsburgh Steelers Odyssey 2 ball putter. :p

Ding Dong the Bitch is Gone!!!

Yay, my stupid, pain in the ass, hill billy neighbors moved away! Geez, it's been great since they left. No more of the late night parties and police visits!

Believe me, good riddence. Don't get me wrong, It takes a lot to piss me off. Those folks were a red rash for all the folks in the neighborhood. The mister was cool at times but he had a temper and when he got hammered he run his motorcycles up and down the street in the middle of the friggin night. His wife was a work of art Marlboro huffing skank that would walk over you if you were bleeding on the sidewalk just to get her mail.

The word in the hood is that the house might be cursed because the last three owners were all tweaked in the head. #1. Wife left man for another woman. #2. 30yr old dude with a 50+ yr old wife that would have regular drive deliveries, wink wink. #3. The formentioned gang of dumbasses.Bleh.

I hope some cool ass people move in. Sane ones. Kind folks. Somebody you can borrow a cup of sugar from. I just hope it's a single family. I hope the mister golfs. Wouldn't that be cool.

Pork Ribs, Rubber Jerky, and Rock'N'Roll

0527081816a.jpg

I went home to Two Grey Hills last week for Memorial Day. It was good to see the family and it was way good to see my ma'sani. Geez, it's been so long since I've laid eyes on the eastern Chuska range. The trees are green in the patches of aspen groves and oak thickets. I miss the days of herding sheep up the mountain and spending the summer months with my grand parents at the cabin. Mmmm...I remember tooling around while the sheep were grazing, sharing my lunch of Vienna sausages and crackers with the sheep dogs, and sipping a warm Shasta.

I grilled some baby backs with a spicy/sweet dry rub. (Emeril's Essense with some brown sugar). Man, my step dad had a field day ... I think he went through about 12 ribs. My aunt showed me up with some very juicy ribs but I had to point out that she cheated because she cooked hers in the oven. No flames, there's something wrong about that. I had a couple of ribs and a helping of potato salad and ducked out for some zzzz's. I needed it too because I went to see Iron Maiden the night before. Man, what a show. I've never seen them before and that is one of the best shows I have ever seen. Rock n Roll baby.

After we hung out with the family we had to leave. I was still tired a little but we had to start out our trek back to Rio Rancho. Geez, I hate being so far away from home. When we lived in Shiprock, it was only about a 45 min drive. Now, it's turned into a long 4 hour drive. But you have to live where the work is. So, we started out and after a painful fill up at the Newcomb Mustang we started south towards Gallup. I was cruising at the usually ludicrous speed of about 70 on old US 666, south by all means too, when I reached behind Karen's seat to fetch me a cool Gatorade in the cooler when BOOM....... Dang, my rear clinched and the steering wheel started to wiggle back and forth, good thing that I had a good grip on the wheel with my left. My right hand hit the back of the seat and I flung it around to gain control at the required 10 and 2 o'clock driving position. It's a good thing that I'm a ninja. Anyway, the left rear tire was instantly in shreds of rubber jerky and was almost ready to lose the bead and running on the rim. I pulled over and luckily it was on a good shoulder. Thank God it was still light out. The girls in the back seat, watching Dora and Boots, never felt a thing. :) I got out and changed the tire with the spare which had low tire pressure. Check your stuff people!! Everybody was safe. I said a prayer and moved onto Rio Rancho with out incident. It could have been worse.

It was still an awesome day out. It was worth the adventure.

Rez Golf

New Irons0509081012a.jpg

Well, we did ok at the golf tournament. My brother was supposed to play with us but he couldn't make it so we were a little handicapped but we managed to sport a 62 for the day. Man, what a fun day. The golf tournament was for the Cochiti Braves baseball team. There were mostly natives playing which made it interesting when a couple of beers have been consumed. I think it made the white dudes kind of neverous to hear the 'yips'! and 'aye aye's!' calls when a team sunk a putt. Some of them were loud. Dang it was great.

That course is beautiful is nested in hills near Cochiti Pueblo. It was windy but it was fun to play. My putting was way on. I putted a 25 footer and we got and eagle but snubbed that with a lame-assed 5 foot bogey at the 18th. If we had made that hole, we would have tied for first. After the round, we had lunch and had a raffle. Boy, I wanted to win a Hooters calendar but with my luck I got nothing.

Alot of the Pueblos out here have a golf courses and the are all well staffed and get good business. Man, they have their shit together. With all that land out in Dinetah, I wish we could have one course where a sheepherder can play on a day off. Canyon De Chelly golf course? Window Rock Golf Resort? Navajo Links and Country Club? Geez, we are way behind in the biz of tourism. Oh well, we can just depend on Monument Vally horseback tours and Jeep trails in Canyon De Chelly I guess. Dang, no beer though.......forget it.

My Mom is a Jedi

Originally posted 5/19/2005

I was so excited that Saturday morning because I was going to see The Empire Strikes Back.

Whoa, I had every thing right...I was good all week, I made my bed, I kept my room clean, I was nice to my little brother and sister...Hell yeah, the Force was definately with me. Mom's going to take me and Alex to the show...Alex had better taken a wiz before we get seated, I'll be pissed if I miss anything good.

The movie was great, more than I expected. Too bad that Luke lost his hand and C3PO got blown up...and Han Solo...getting shrinkwrapped in carbonite like a damned T.V. dinner...coulda been worse.

As we walked out side of the Allen Theater, the sun was blinding and it was getting friggin' hot. Well, crap....Mom is runnin' late. We'll just stand here and mind our own business......mind my own business, Alex is starting to do dumb things and ask stupid questions and of course he's the only one on Main Street making light saber sound effects. Dangit, where is she?

My aunt, Verbena, picked us up. Hey, there's my baby sister. Ok, Ok, row row row yer boat.......All the way home.......

We took the turn off but what's with all these cars? Well, damn.......get moving you friggin' rubber neckers.........Hey Auntie, watch out for all that broken glass.....

There it was...Mom's car. Mangled and smashed beyond belief... groceries just scattered every where.....The car looked like a metal beast with all it's guts strewn about the cut slope. She was less than a mile from home.

MOM!!!!

I remember my big brother, Chuck, waving us forward...."get 'em out of here", he yelled... Auntie drove us home.

I cried for days.

That was 28 years ago. Mom is OK, and she has recovered from the injuries. She still has the scars where the Trans Am struck her door. Funny thing though, she has actually tatooed by the black colored fiber glass. Damned drunk driver.

Mom had my aunt pick us up from the movies because she knew we wouldn't like to go grocery shopping. We wouldn't have minded because we wanted to go get some Star Wars action figures. Something in her mind told her to leave us there at the movies. The Force? I'll never know. To this day, she still says that if it weren't for Star Wars we would have been killed in that crash. Well, in those days, seat belts were never used; we probably would have. The Empire Strikes Back is still my favorite and I think my mom is a Jedi. I wonder, if I ask, if she'll get me some Star Wars linens for Christmas.

I remember you..........

Goin' to work

I have to write something. Seems like everytime I go to my blog my brain stops working and I stare at this blank screen. I've got a lot of stuff stored up there that I should blog about but you know sometimes your fingers aren't in the mood to tickle the QWERTY board. This spring has been more than eventfull....

My new job has been cool. I do alot of grunt work that I should have been doing at my other job. I'm up to taking the P.E. (Professional Engineer)exam but I feel that I need to exercise my surviving brain cells before I take that test. I'm learning alot and I really like that. I'm actually doing some engineering instead of drafting all the time.

Getting back into a more humanly shape is still a daunting task. I'm still chugging along though. I was hoping to thud through the Shiprock Marathon relay but I think I'll have to bench that thought for a while. I'm planning on doing one of the runs during the Duke City Marathon events. There's always something going on here in the Rio Grande Valley. Oh well, we'll see.

My brother is back at home and seems to be doing a lot better. He still has some more healing to do before he can get back work.

My eldest daughter is graduating from high school this month. Geez, I haven't seen her in 15 years but we're trying to rekindle our relationship. It's difficult because we have to sort out the missing years. Her mom has a been really cool about it all and it's great that we managed to make up. We just wished we did it sooner. Better late than never I guess. Life is way to short to hold grudges and anger. Only time will tell.

I haven't been back home in about a year. These gas prices really suck ass. Hopefully I'll be able to get out to the rez for some of my grandma's homecooking. I miss seeing the stars and hearing the silence.

I've got a golf tournament next week. I haven't swung my clubs since the beginning of March. It's going to be fun though.

I went to Megadeth a couple of weeks ago and it was a great show. Watching Dave Mustaine throw guitars around on stage was awesome. There are a bunch of other shows that I want to catch this summer.

I'm alive. Sure beats trying to cross the border.

I played golf on Saturday for the first time this year. I think I did very well but the sun went down before I could fill my card with 18 holes. On the front nine I finished with a 41 before I went in for a wiz and soda. I hope I can play more since I have a little more time this year.

There has been alot of things that are going through my brain lately. Mostly family stuff and then there is my personal well being. I'm trying to sort it out. I'm not sure if I'm ready to blog about it.

Oh well, I'll just keep on trucking.

Punxsutawney Phil you dumbass rodent.........

.........Spring is close. Baseball season is almost upon us. Hockey season is underway. Basketball is basketballing as we speak. Actually, who really gives a shit. There is no football for the next 6 months. I can't believe it sometimes. I should take up a hobby...like writing.

You folks watch the Superbowl? What a lovely game that Superbowl XLII. Lovely indeed. Cheaters never win. Poetic justice is always sweet. I'm all about a team going on a perfect run but they were doing in all the wrong ways. Oh well. They'll get theirs.

Please read

As I write this, my older brother is in intensive care in Denver because of this condition that is very avoidable. Please read.

Alcohol Acetaminophen Syndrome

Please pass it along. I love my brother very much and I don't want anybody to go through what my family and I are going through right now. For those that know my brother, Chuck, we appreciate all your thoughts and prayers and he can use every one of them. As for my brother's condition, his liver has suffered a great deal of damage and now we can only wait. God only knows.

Hug and tell your family that you love them.....every day.

CODE 7

Got SPAM?

I just got done with lunch. Leftover top sirloin on whole wheat bread. Yeah, I'm a maniac like that. Dang, I wish I could shread it and put it on a hoagie roll and melt some cheese on it and then chase it with a nice warm Coke. Shasta or RC would suffice too. Dangit, I got some meat stuck in my teeth. I'll just try to pick it out with one of my business cards since I don't have any floss here at my office. Note to self: get floss for office.

In case you're wondering, I had to start over. I got lazy after I got canned back in November and plus Icouldn't really leave a 3 year old running around the house by herself because my equipment is in the garage. I know, excuses...excuses. I did manage to only win back a couple of the pounds that I shedded. Damned football sundays. Turkey day. Jesus made me do it too. My new clothes still fit...that's a good sign. It's back to push and pulling iron but I going to do alot more cardio than lifting this first part of the year because I really want to shed some pudge before I get back in the pool because the fatty chasers down the street are starting to be a menace, Karen's having to beat them off with a stick.... and also I'd really like to run in an organized event early in the summer. I was hoping for the Shiprock marathon relay but I think I have to take smaller baby steps before taking that event on. We'll see.

Oh well, lunch is over. Protein drink in 1 hour. Treadmill and chest this evening. Chicken breast dinner and cottage cheese. Asleep by 9 and do it all over again tomorrow.

Did somebody say Lotaburger? I'll buy if you fly!

Christmas cheer, the hard way

The Friday before Christmas I drove to my girl's daycare in a blizzard for gifts which is kind of out of the way because I had to drive all the way into Albuquerque from Bernalillo and then back to Rio Rancho. The things you do for your kids huh. I got out of there quick before the snow really started to stick and before I could really say that it was a bad idea. After learning that I had been laid off from my job, the daycare "adopted" us even as I protested that we weren't that far into the gutter but they did anyway. They are awesome, geez, these people went way overboard but they felt that my girls were worth it. I don't know how to ever thank them enough.

As I drove home the sky started opening up over Rio Rancho and I forgot one of the laws of thermodynamics as there was no conservation of heat by the clouds so the ambient temperature began to drop as heat escaped into space, but I continued home without fail and backed into my drive way. I opened the door and put my weight down my left foot on the concrete which had a blanket of ice beads strewn about. I couldn't stop my self. My left foot went immediately under the driver door and under the truck. My left hand slid down the door and my right hand just gripped the bottom of the steering wheel. What to do. What a site. All I could do was allow my self to drop and, y'know, get up and dust off the embarrassment but no, it was way slick and after thudding on the cold concrete I continued to slide under the truck. All I could do was wedge my left knee under the front tire while I figure out how to get up. I layed there for a while and admired how dark blue the sky was and then noticed that the neighbors Christmas lights had just popped on. All those reindeer looking at me. I could only imagine what a spectacle I thought I was. Ha ha. Big brown dude stuck under his truck, in his drive way. Reminded me of my firefighting days in Window Rock where we'd have to check up on glaaniis sleeping under peoples vehicles. I thought...God, is this a sign? Should I stop being mean to stupid people? Should I invest? Is this what flounders see? Should I carpet the driveway? I hope the truck doesn't slide. That pigeon is eyeballing me. Ha ha. I dug for the only thing that could rescue me, my cell phone. I dialed. "Where are you, you're late," she said! "Karen!", gritting my teeth, "I need some help....", I said as she hung up the phone. She came out and looked in the truck and called for me. I said, "I'm under the truck...I've fallen and I can't get up!" All she could do was laugh. I couldn't stop for a while neither. So she literally had to drag me to a dry area that was a couple of feet away from the drivers side door. We unpacked and went inside. Moral of story, keep your cellphone on you and wear clean skivvies. You never know.

Did you save me a place?

Curley 011

I'm back. Back when I said I was back, I wasn't back. But now, I am back. And pissed. Damned Steelers. My brother and I both sobbed uncontrollably for a moment and then we watched Ratatouille with the our girls. Yes, as has I, he's been blessed with girls. Karen and I are cut off from the baby making bizz so there won't be any Friday night lights like I hoped but I guess I'll get used to volleyball, ballet, basketball or something they may take up. They're getting bigger so I hope to get them into some kind of sport this summer. I can't wait to fill the pool again, this summer is going to be awesome. With my new job and all it's going to be easier to do things in the evenings with my babies while they are still babies.

Well, I've been back at work for 3 weeks and it is awesome. I'm actually doing some engineering and designing from inside out. I miss designing highways but I'll be doing stuff that is more along my career goal environmental engineering and some civil work. The people here are cool and I actually have more than one mentor that I can brain-pick at. For the next few months I'll be doing alot more studying because I'll be preparing for my professional engineer's license (P.E.). I can't wait to get that out of the way. Plus, it may mean more beso.

The last time I posted was way back in November and we've been ok since my lay off. I got to take a vacation and reflect and watch midday tv while sitting with Emie. We had a good time but it does get boring and I'm glad that I was able to get back to work. A man can only take so many tea parties. Sorry Emie, monsters did not steal the tea party set.

I wasn't able to get home like I wanted to for the holidays but it was nice to see people come out to see us. I smoked the hell out of a turkey for Thankgiving... dang, ya'll should have come by. I made a brine and let the bird soak for a day and I shlathered it with some homemade poultry seasoning and smoked it for about 6 hours. I've never had a more juicy tazhii in my hole life. I might do it again for the Super Bowl but we'll see, my brother wants to cook up something too but we're not sure. Maybe mutton. We might have too much food but for those that know me and those of you in the neighborhood, please let me know that you're around. You have a friend in Rio Rancho!
